To keep only part of the photo afterwards, use crop image; to make it smaller, use compress image. To put several shots in one picture there is join photos.

Uploading it to hide it is the risky part

The images that need redacting are usually the most sensitive ones you own: a photo of your ID or passport, a bank or medical letter, a parcel label with your address, a chat screenshot, a picture with your children's faces. Yet the typical "blur image online" site starts by uploading that file to its server. Here the photo is opened, covered and saved by your own browser; nothing is sent anywhere, and the page keeps working with the internet switched off. The saved file also leaves out the location and camera data that the original carried.

Which method to pick

Mosaic β€” the familiar pixelated look; good for faces and number plates.
Blur β€” softer, for backgrounds and bystanders.
Solid fill β€” for anything where a single leaked character matters: ID, account and card numbers, signatures. The original pixels are replaced outright, so nothing can be recovered from them.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The photo is opened, covered and saved entirely inside your browser. The page keeps working with the internet switched off, which is the easiest way to check. It is safe to use on scans of ID documents.

Can pixelated text be recovered?

With small text and large mosaic cells it is practically unreadable, but blur or a light mosaic can leave the outline of letters for someone to guess. For anything where one leaked digit matters β€” ID, account or card numbers β€” use "Solid fill". Filled areas have their original pixels erased and cannot be restored by any method.

I drew in the wrong place

"Undo last area" removes the most recent box, one at a time, and "Clear all areas" removes them all. Nothing changes in your original file until you save.

What happens to areas I already covered if I change the method or strength?

Every area is redrawn with the new setting. The file is saved exactly as you see it, so check the preview before saving.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Drag a finger diagonally across the photo to draw a box. On a small screen, draw the box a little larger than the area you want to hide.

Does saving reduce quality?

With "Same as original", a JPG photo is saved as JPG and a PNG screenshot as PNG. JPG is saved at 92% quality, which is hard to tell apart by eye. For screenshots full of text, PNG stays sharper.
