WebP to JPG, PNG to JPG, JPG to PNG and back. Dimensions stay exactly as they are β€” only the format changes, for as many images as you drop in.

The point here is changing the format, so the default is a high 92%. Lower it if you also want smaller files.

To keep the format and just make files smaller, use Compress image. To keep only part of a picture, use Crop image. To pull pages out of a PDF as pictures, there is PDF to image.

Why "saved as WebP" keeps getting in the way

Save an image from almost any website today and you get a .webp file. Then a job application form, an older photo editor or a print shop rejects it as an unsupported format. Converting it to JPG fixes that β€” but the usual converters upload your picture to their server first, which is an odd trade for a screenshot of a document or a photo of your ID. Here the conversion is done by your browser's own image decoder on your machine. Nothing is sent anywhere; load the page, switch off Wi-Fi, and it still works.

Which format for what

WebP β†’ JPG β€” when a site or program refuses WebP.
PNG β†’ JPG β€” when a screenshot is too heavy to attach. Usually 5–10Γ— smaller.
JPG β†’ PNG β€” before editing, so repeated saves stop adding compression artefacts.
β†’ WebP β€” for images on your own website or shop, to make pages load faster.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion happens inside your browser and the files never leave your device. The page keeps working with the internet switched off, which is the easiest way to check.

What happens to a transparent background when I convert PNG to JPG?

JPG has no concept of transparency, so those areas must be filled with some colour. You choose which; the default is white. If a logo needs to stay transparent, convert to PNG or WebP instead. Without any fill, transparent areas would come out black.

What is WebP?

An image format made by Google that is typically 20–30% smaller than JPG at the same quality, which is why most websites now serve it. Older software and some upload forms still cannot open it, so convert to JPG when you need to hand an image to one of those.

What quality should I use?

If you only need a different format, leave it at 92% β€” the difference is hard to see. You can go down to 75–85% to save more space, but Compress image can hit an exact target size for you, which is easier.

Does saving several images download them one at a time?

No. They are bundled into a single ZIP file by default. Untick the box under "Save all" for separate files β€” the browser will then ask for confirmation, and phones often keep only the first one.

Can it convert iPhone HEIC photos?

Not in most browsers, because they cannot decode HEIC at all. On an iPhone, go to Settings β†’ Camera β†’ Formats and choose "Most Compatible" so new photos are taken as JPG. Existing HEIC photos are usually converted to JPG automatically when you share them from the phone.

Is GIF animation kept?

No. An animated GIF is saved as its first frame only, because the browser converts by drawing a single still picture.
